魂の叫びが会場全体を包み22000人が大合唱！...最高の宴でした。



会場のNewArkにある25000人収容のスーパーアリーナ。満員御礼でした！

〜第3回 スタンフォード桜祭り〜

NewYorkから鉄道で1時間。。閑静な高級住宅街＆別荘地ですね。





今年で3回目の今回のイベントはまだまだ発展途上...^_^; 日本文化啓蒙の為にも頑張って更に盛り上げて行って欲しいものです。




琉球チムドン楽団はTOPバッター。しかし、人出が今一の時間帯...わぉ！ それでも楽しんで下さっていた皆さんに心から感謝！ ありがとうございました！^_−☆




〜第1回 ハリソン 春祭り〜


NewYorkから鉄道で30分。ここもまた閑静な住宅街。。






民間主催の手作り感溢れる素晴らしいお祭りでした。皆さん楽しそうで。。ステージ出演も一般市民の方々が主で笑顔溢れた4時間のお祭り。






ワークショップではベルさぁちぃが三味線と竹笛ユニット「月舞」さんとコラボ(￣▽￣)

来年以降もぜひ継続して欲しいものです。

先日＆昨夜行われた「KUBOYA」、「Jado Sushi」さんでの草の根交流ライブリポート。

Bigイベントとは違い、あくまで我々を知らない・日本そのものをあまり知らない現地のアメリカ人と草の根に交流したいという思いから実現したカフェライブ。ほぼ口コミ、もしくはたまたまご来場下さったお客様。。









しか〜し、盛り上がりました！皆さんほんとフレンドリー...^_−☆



その中に著名なカメラマンのカップルがいらして、我々を気に入り急遽自宅スタジオで撮影会も！わぉ！(O_O)/


まさしく、音楽は言語も人種も国境も超えるんですねぇ〜...(￣▽￣) 世界に愛と平和を！感動の草の根交流。NewYork万歳！

Bethel Gospel Assembly

さて、現地アメリカ時間８日（日）に行われるライブについて・・・。
同日は世界中のキリスト教徒にとって最大のイベント「イースター＝Easter」。。　ボブは幼稚園、中学＆高校とカソリック系の学校に通っていましたから馴染みの深い宗教です(^-^)v　・・・だから余計に理解出来ますが、すごい事になっちゃいました！　沖縄からやってくるヘンテコリンなバンドに、その最大のイベントへの演奏（出演）許可が・・・降りちゃいました！ワオッ！(@_@)/

このBethel Gospel Assembly（教会）の牧師さんがすごい！
『イースターは、クリスチャンだけのものではなく、世界中の人がキリストの復活（人間がポジティブで健全に生きることができるようにと祝う日）を共に祝うべきである。よって、KYOKO（※今回のニューヨークのプロデューサー）の提案は、大変意義があるものだと思われる。』　・・・　素晴らしい！　感動で体が震え、涙が止まらなかったよ。。

今回、我々「琉球チムドン楽団」は沖縄という特殊な環境に生まれ育った‘意味’や‘意義’を深く追求し、我々なりの解釈で『愛と希望と平和』について歌と演奏で語りかけたい。更に東日本大震災という未曾有うの大災害の支援に対する‘感謝の意’・・・そして、まだまだ災害は続いているという事も・・・ね

人種を超えて、宗教を超えて、正面で向き合い、真心を込めて語り（歌い）かければ必ずやお互いの「魂」は響きあうはず・・・。それを信じてがんばるよ！　ワクワクドキドキが止まりません！(^-^)　最終的に押し切って許可を出して下さった牧師さん、そしてプロデューサーのＵ女史に心から感謝申し上げます。。　

さぁ～！行くぞ！アメリカ！(^-^)/

Ryukyu Chimdon Band from Okinawa, Japan
The first performance in US!

Ryukyu Chimdon Band was founded in April, 2003 with eight musicians and dancers. “Chimdon” means to feel excited or “being bubbling” in Okinawa dialect of Japan.

The band debuted as major recording act in Japan. They are familiar to Japanese people because of their appearances on television commercials. They are seen on television every day all over Japan.　

Ryukyu Chimdon Band’s music is related to traditional Okinawa music; it is categorized as World music and carries influences of Jazz, Pop, Latin, and Funk music. Japanese percussion “Chindon,” with Saxophone, Okinawa Guitar “San-Shin”, Bass Guitar, Vocalists and dancers will visit the U.S. next month.

The band will perform at Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, April 14th. They will also travel to New York City for a week-long stay and perform in many different locations in NYC area.

As you know, Okinawa and U.S. are connected in history. Okinawa was an independent county until Japan attacked and made it a part of Japan. During the Second World War, 550,000 U.S. military troops occupied Okinawa and over 200,000 people were killed during this military action. After the war, Okinawa continued under U.S. control for 27 years.

Many people from Okinawa immigrated to North and South America 100 years ago. It was very difficult three month voyage by boat and many people became terribly ill and many died. In the face of the hardship, the travelers played San-shin (Okinawa guitar) and sang together to encourage each other during the trip. Ryukyu Chimdon Band also offers encouragement to their people through their music just as their ancestors did.

Although Okinawa has had much physical damage during its turbulent history, the Okinawa Culture has been unscathed. Okinawa Culture is very separate from that of Japan and carries influences from China and other Asian countries. Ryukyu Chimdon Band creates their performance based on Okinawa Culture as new professional entertainment. The band has performed all over Japan and their first CD 20,000 was sold out immediately after their d　but.

The purpose of their performance in U.S. is “Friendship between U.S. and Japan through music.” We cannot change our past, but we can change the future. I think it is important to know the history and the mistakes we have made so that we can avoid making the same mistakes again in the future. Ryukyu Chimdon Band will introduce their culture to NYC and attract many people to their message. We know that through the music we can help create new friendship between the U.S. and Japan.

The Ryukyu Chimdon Band will bring a big smile to your lips and heal your heart. They will perform in many different venues each day, please stop by one of them and enjoy their music. Their performance schedule is below. None of the venues will carry a music charge.

「ワシントンDC桜祭り2012」への出演です。　特に今年は桜の苗木が日本から寄贈されて100年目に当たる節目の記念年。　例年20万人の人出が今年は40万人を見込んでいるそうです。
